The establishment of an ASEAN Economic Community (MEA) as a result of the agreement of countries in the region of Southeast Asia has opened up wider opportunities for Southeast Asian people to trade goods, services, capital and labor without further hindrance. Indonesia as a member country also has a chance to participate in the single market. In terms of commodity and the availability of goods, Indonesia has a very abundant wealth. However, on the other hand Indonesia still has constraints, especially on the capital sector and the expertise of the workforce.

Step by step has been endeavored by the Government in disseminating the opening of new market to the whole society. The government is also preparing special programs to prepare these opportunities :

*Preparation Started from SMK So Priority Local Government

Local governments have a big hand to participate in the success of this MEA program. This is because most of the composition of human resources in the country is dominated by Vocational High School graduates (SMK)

*Essential Skills Students Must Have in order to Compete

The essential skills students must have in order to compete with neighboring countries in the MEA era.
